This tutorial works only on:
Carrier: AT&T
Firmware: 3.1
TUTORIAL: Here are the steps to enable MMS on iPhone 3.1
Windows 2000/XP/Vista (32-bit):
* Click Start and then choose Run
* Type the word command into the box and press enter
* Paste this “C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1into the command console
* Press enter
Windows XP/Vista (64-bit):
* Click Start and then choose Run
* Type the word command into the box and press enter
* Paste this “C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe” /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1 into the command console
* Press enter
Mac OS X:
* Close iTunes just in case it’s open.
* Start Terminal (Click on spotlight and search terminal)
* Once terminal is open enter the following command: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE
Once you are done with the above instructions. You need to download the modified bundle (ATT_US.ipcc file)
* Download the ipcc file above to any location on your computer (Make sure you remember the location)
* Connect your iPhone to the computer.
* Launch iTunes.
* In the device listing in iTunes, choose/click your iPhone.
* Shift-click the “Update” button (Alt-Click in Mac)
* Browse to the location where you downloaded the IPCC.
* Select the ATT_US.ipcc file.
* Reboot your iPhone
* Congrats you have now enabled MMS on your iPhone!
AT&T are busy removing the opt-out codes(the code which AT&T used to block MMS when iPhone 3.0 firmware was released). This is an ongoing process and even after using this tutorial, a few users may have to wait for the removal of the code from AT&T’s side for the MMS to work.
