The Dev-Team have just released their latest version of pwnage tool, 3.1.4 for Mac OS X only, there are currently no plans to release a windows version, this supports the new 3.1.2 firmware release for iphone 2G / 3G / 3GS, and ipod touch 1G / 2G, there is no support at the moment for ipt3G.
The main benefits of pwnage tool is to create a custom firmware that doesnt upgrade the modem, this is for users that are not on an official carrier ( eg unlocked ).
